We have found the problem in AIM* Historian. Messages.inp file was not there at
"/opt/aim/bin/examples".
But can anyone explain me its importance? Is it kind of format, based on which
messages are historized ?

Do you mean that the record exists and the "Alarm/Return" field is blank or the
Return to Normal record is not being generated? For the latter, you may find
that the Return to Normal records are not being generated (and consequentially
stored in the AIM* tables) if the Alarm has been Inhibited (or shelved) after
the alarm has been generated but before it returns to normal.

We are having a scenario where a 3rd Party Alarm Management System (AMS) fires
a query to AIM* Historian (IA 6.1, 6.5, 7.1 & 8.3) Database and fetches &
stores the alarm lines for daily report generation. I few cases the alarm lines
stored in AMS-DB don't have "Alarm/Return" field and due to that AMS is not
able to generate the correct report.
Can anyone please help me in this ????
