BTW, not every external reference results in a multicast. The CP has an IMPORT
table that remembers the address of 100 (?) top level names (Compound, Shared
Variables or Application names).
If the reference is to a top level name that is stored in the IMPORT table, no
multicast occurs.
Make sense?

If the external reference C.B.P is within the same CP as the sequence block a
broadcast is not made to other CPs on the mesh network and the sequence code is
not suspended. If the external reference C.B.P is in another CP then a
broadcast is made and the sequence block will suspend one block period to
process the external reference call.

Thanks for your replies. Looks like you external references are more flexible
than local references and I can not loop around locals.
Another question. Does HLBL broadcast for an external reference if the link is
in the same CP?
