Stan, In the context of Alex's email they mean the same. In the context of discussing Infusion CE (Control Edition) Off-Mesh is obvious. (Any machine not tied to the Mesh with dual Nics) Off platform means "Off I/A Platform" or Mesh not running I/A. (Meaning any machine not connected to the Mesh but thru the 3rd etherent Nic to a second network or sometimes just a single machine. The word Platform is not used in the context of Infusion/WW platforms.. -----Original Message----- From: foxboro-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:foxboro-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Brown, Stanley Sent: Wednesday, March 31, 2010 7:30 AM To: foxboro@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [foxboro] Guidance for combining services on IA? Alex, could I get a further clarification here. It is my understanding that the terms "on/off mesh" and "on/off platform" have different meanings in an Infusion context. Obviously on or off mesh means that something is either physically connected to both sides of a mesh network, and participating in the path selection process this implies. My understanding of on or off platform is that this pertains to whether the Archestar "software platform" (whatever that is) has been loaded on the machine in question. Being on mesh implies that a given machine can use only one core, but I do not believe that is true just because a machine is "on platform". Do I have this correct? And is this how the terms are used in this message? I could read this message to be using on or off platform to actually mean on or off the mesh. Can you unconfused me, please? *** Confidentiality Notice: This e-mail, including any associated or attached files, is intended solely for the individual or entity to which it is addressed.
