Ali Ahmed,

Not sure exactly what you are looking for, but the Informix raw 
partition (on Solaris boxes) is still backed up and restored using the 
dd command.  This is part of the "backup" script in /usr/local, and part 
of the "restore" script on the day0 CD.  So perhaps it would help if you 
took a look at those two scripts to see how the dd command is used, 
hopefully to apply it to your situation.
