Subject: [foxboro] Aim* Messages

after some help from TAC who stated that messaging should rebuild after
deleting m*0.fdb and im*0.fdb we were left wondering why ours wouldn't.
turns out you need to start_server STOP after turning off the instance.

Stop the instance from histmgr
start_server STOP
Remove all the m*0.fdb and im*0.fdb
xrebuild histname 4
msgfix histname

start_server FH
restart the instance

the clue for us was a -1 error to msgfix after deleting the index files

Hi All
We have IA 6.5.4 solaris with Aim* 3.2.5ish
Last year we installed QF1008915 which has a known break for messages
see page 10 of QF1009414.txt
To cut a long story short before realising the above we have managed to
trash the message indexing.
We are currently collecting messages but fh_sacego wont pull anything
out

We wish to start again at m10.fdb and im10.fdb without affecting the
status of the real time point data, has anybody dug themselves out of
this hole before
Shaun
