On June 1, Schneider issued a Safety Advisory regarding "Potential Loss of
Peer-to-Peer Connections with CP270 and CP280" (Foxboro Evo - I/A Customer
Advisory (ADV255) 2016008abi rev 4). With it, Schneider provides the tool
P2PAnalyzer.exe to analyze the peer-to-peer connections for errors for the
CP(s) in questions.
I obtained the tool through my local field service engineer, but I have had
problems running it. Not that it wouldn't run, my problem is P2PAnalyzer
reports a multitude of false positives. For example, between one CP270
and one CP280, it reports 154 (yes, 154!) errors of peer-to-peer
connections. On the face of it, there is no way we could operate the
process with that number of P2P errors; and a laborious check of a sample
of them all show them to be false positives.
Anybody else experiences the same problem? We are in communication with
Schneider tech support, but the wheel of GCS turns slowly these days.
