Hi List,
I am looking for feedback about how many people are running their
FCP270's with the SELF-HOSTING feature enabled. I am interested in observed
plus and minus value of running like this. Any feedback is appreciated.
For those that don't know how to implement this feature, it is done by
changing each FCP270's STATION block .CFGOPT parameter. The .CFGOPT parameter
allows enabling SELF-HOSTING, as well as many other features, based on a packed
Integer value. The STATION block documentation found in FOXDOC B0193AC is bent
on providing confusion about what value to enter in the .CFGOPT parameter but
to make a long story shorter, by changing the default value of 0 to 256 and
doing a block download, only the SELF-HOSTING feature will be enabled, and you
will see the message at the right hand of the STATION Block detail display
change from "SELF-HOSTING DISABLED" to "SELF-HOSTING ENABLED".
Via our testing we verified that an FT FCP270 would successfully reboot
to the last checkpointed status using a checkpoint stored in its own EEPROM
instead of requiring the FCP Boot Host to send it across the MESH. To test, we
did the following things:
Changed STATION.CFGOPT from 0 to 256
Downloaded STATION Block change
Checkpointed the FCP270
Powered down both FCP modules
Shutdown the FCP boot host
Powered up the FT FCP270 pair
Observed FCP boot to FT state
Looked at the STATION Block Display to see that SELF_HOSTING is still enabled
Sounds great and appears to work as expected but now I would like to
hear "the rest of the story" from experienced users. Let the voting begin.
This should be much more fun than voting on election day in the United States;<)
