We recently lost our network control room color printer. This was used by
our operators for screen prints. It was a Samsung not that it should matter.
Foxboro and Non-Foxboro control PCs shared this printer and all of them had
the Samsung printer configured as a "local" printer on a TCPIP port.
The replacement printer, a canon, was installed across the house in the same
fashion using the same IP address. The Fox workstations are running WIN
7/64 bit. The other computers in the control room are running a mix of OS
revs but one of them is also a WIN 7/64 bit machine.
None of the Foxboro Workstations will print to the new printer. We've tried
three out of seven and just gave up. All of the remaining computers in the
control room will print to the Canon. As stated, the new printer is using
the same IP address, the same switch port, etc.
So far we have deleted the printer driver on the Foxboro workstations and
rebooted before trying to re-install it. We have tried installing the
printer using the network printer option. No Joy. When we view devices
and printers on the Foxboro workstations the cannon printer once installed
shows up in the list as the default device and shows that it is ready. The
printer can be pinged from the workstation. I don't know what to try next.
Any ideas?
