As helicopter crews supporting the Ute Park Fire move their equipment to Angel
Fire Airport, Taxiway A at Taos is no longer being used for long-term parking
of those helicopters. The NOTAM for the Taxiway A Closure has been cancelled,
but an occasional heavy helicopter may still arrive for fuel, temporarily
closing the taxiway again.
Thanks for your patience late last week and over the weekend during the
increased activity at Taos Regional Airport. The firefighters tell me that many
airports are not as welcoming and supportive as Taos. I have thanked them for
their efforts and expressed our gratitude for their work and the protection
they provide to our community.
