Hi Chuq,

Two questions:

1. After following the sql ledger links below it seems I need to install Apache server, because I currently don't have it. Do I install that ahead of the Postgres SQL software? or does it matter?

2. Am I correct that you recommend using tasksel to install the Apache server?

Good day guys!
For those who were at the lug this past week, I discussed an opensource software sql-ledger, and asked if anyone got the chance to play with this and figured out the install and configuration to please let me know. Well Good news, I just found a great set of instructions and the setup was painless, took me about 10 minutes to be up and running, now I just need to get my inventory and customers loaded up and I will be good to go!
Here are the links that I used:
http://www.woelf.nl/ubuntu/?number=17&lan=en <http://www.woelf.nl/ubuntu/?number=17&lan=en> http://www.woelf.nl/ubuntu/?number=18&lan=en <http://www.woelf.nl/ubuntu/?number=18&lan=en> I plan on putting the instructions together for my own use and will share those once I get it completed!

One of the reasons that I wanted to showcase sql-ledger is because this package will benefit the warehouse. We can use this to keep track of everyones hours, all of the inventory, weights if needed, we can keep all of the accounting in there, basically everything that is needed we can do in it.

And a side note, at the LUG I talked about using tasksel to install lamp server, you can sudo tasksel and select from a variety of packages to install, such as: basic Ubuntu server, DNS server, Edubuntu Server, mail server, samba file server, Edubuntu desktop, Kubuntu netbook, Mythubuntu (all parts frontend, backend master and slave, different roles) video creation and editing suite the various desktop flavors of ubuntu as well as the live CD's, netbook remix LIVE. So all in all tasksel is a very strong and usefull command for installing servers in Ubuntu as well as other things besides just servers!
