There was a lot of talk about headsets.
Dominique was demonstrating her new Plantronics headset, which has a USB
connection.
She although clear was a little distant, and Cearbhall and Declan gave her
instructions on how to increase the volume.
Go to the bottom of the screen on her laptop, use jaws key + F11. Then to
settings, then sounds and then to imput sounds.
Dominique can only do this by exiting out of the Zoom meeting.
The setting she must increase the sound in , is in zoom settings, and when
your already using Zoom, this setting is greyed out. Decdlan is going to
help Dominique to change the settting with regard to imput sound volume
after our meeting today.
Joe has a problem, whilest using Zoom, and he gets a phone call,
He double taps to answer the call, but then he has also closed the Zoom
meeting.
This happened at the meeting today to Michael Brown, who got a call,
And when he answered the call, he also terminated the meeting.
Joe wants to know if there is a way to answer your call, and also to remain
at the meeting?
Cearbhall thought that there is probably a setting in the Zoom app to allow
this to happen.
Mary wanted to know if she could get some scripts written for the Jamulus,
to make it more responsive to her Jaws software.
Cearbhall said yes, a person can write scripts for the app, at a cost of
course.
Declan encouraged Mary in the meantime, to try using Jamulus with
The open source screen reader NVDA.
By far the most serious issue discussed was Lady Jackie's alarm call, This
is a call early in the morning, where Jackie is awoken to sounds of her
favourite tune,
No its not Bing Crosby singing White Christmas or Nathan Carter or her
beloved Weee Daniel,
But rather that famous ditty, How much is that doggie in the window@?
The alarm comes on at full blast, shocking Jackie, and sending Sasha into
overdrive. Cearbhall/ Declan found a setting into Alexa where one can set
the alarm at a very soft introduction to wake up mode, and increase the
level step by step.
There was a good discussion on that new app, Signalling, its similar to
Whats app, but is very easy to subscribe to, and its fully encrypted.
It seems that Whats app will not work with old models of the iPhone,
Due to privacy matters. .
Jackie was able to see that Michael had joined the signal list as she was
told this by the app.
One must use a four pin number for a short time after they join the list of
users.
Its no harm to have a bit of competition in the wonderful world of
messaging.
