Hi everyone and welcome to the FB Exchange Tech Club, the most friendly
Q&A Tech club around. Don't forget, Christmas is in 37 days, so you
better start doing the shopping now.
There were 11 participants in attendance.
Following the customary discussion about the recent weather conditions
in Ireland and the brief notice of heavy rain coming and amid
conversations about the early holiday season celebrations, it was
observed that the designated note-taker was absent. Adrian assumed this
role for the meeting.
It's worth mentioning that a couple of participants were preparing for
their performance at a Sightless cinema today. Good luck guys.
Anne initiated the conversation and expressed her satisfaction with the
Moovit App, which provides information about local public transport. For
those unfamiliar with the app, here is the link:

Android:

The discussion shifted to the process of renewing the free transport
pass. Paul successfully resolved an issue with notifications from
gov.ie, discovering that it was an error, and there was no problem with
his application.
Ger inquired about the functionality of read receipts in emails,
specifically in the Gmail app on Android. Anne clarified that this
option is not available in the app but can be achieved in other email
clients. Adrian committed to following up with an email detailing how to
do it in various email clients.
Anne sought information about the Pages app on MacOS, learning that it
is a note-taking app similar to WordPad or Notepad in Windows.
Speaking of office apps, Adrian shared a very odd keyboard shortcut in
Windows that will open the Microsoft Office 365 apps. Get ready to
break your fingers: Ctrl + Shift + Alt + Win + O - this will open
Outlook, for emaple. A full list of the shortcuts can be found here:

Cearbhall said it is actually a HyperKey shortcut. More details on how
to set it up can be found here:

Until you set it up, here are a few more of these finger-breaking
shortcuts:
LinkedIn - CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + WIN + L
Word - CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + WIN + W
Excel - CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + WIN + X
PowerPoint - CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + WIN + P
Outlook - CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + WIN + O
Microsoft Teams - CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + WIN + T
OneDrive - CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + WIN + D
OneNote - CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + WIN + N
Yammer - CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + WIN + Y
Ken asked about typing percentages using the Hable Key, and Cearbhall
answered, sending an email to Ken by the end of the meeting.
Paul inquired if Braille uses dashes, receiving a negative response.
Ken expressed dissatisfaction with a recent update to the Audible iPad
app, citing differences in the interface. Adrian attributed this to
screen resolution and suggested checking for a Screen Size option for
iOS users which is availbale on Android and downsizes the resolution.
Anne inquired about activating Google Assistant on Android, leading to a
discussion on the accessibility and usability differences between iOS
and Android phones. Anne was told that on Android it differs between
brands but at leas a "Google" section should be available in settings,
where she could activate Google Assistant.
Cearbhall faced microphone issues on his phone while using it with
hearing aids. A live troubleshooting session ensued, suspecting issues
with the phone's microphone. Cearbhall planned to contact Apple customer
support. Adrian provided him the phone number: 1800 92 38 98. (Mon-Fri
9:00 - 20:00)
Joanne asked Adrian for a recommended app to program NFC tags. Adrian
inquired about her use cases for NFC tags. She mentioned a couple
including labeling clothes due to their small size. Joanne asked Adrian
to send again the videos he posted to the list a couple of months ago.

The Hable keyboard returned to the discussion, with Joanne enrolling in
an upcoming course on it.
