almost certainly, someone set "everyone" or "authenticated users" to
have "read as" permissions on the store and/or storage group.

Raj,
Basically what i found out was that a regular user can go into his
outlook 2000 or 2003 and then simply open and view other user folders. I
look under the 'Permissions' tab to see who has access and there's only
'Default' listed. That shouldn't give the regular user access to other
user folders should it?

Chris,
For doing that, you have to logon to a workstation as an Exchange admin
with full mailbox access to the entire Information store. Then use the
Outlook client to open the specific mailbox to check the permissions on
each folders. This is the right way to do it. Anyway, by default only
the primary owner has full mailbox access to the mailbox. Unless granted
permissions by the owner, no one else has access to the mailbox. So, if
you are in a pretty standard configuration, you don't have to worry
about it, unless you have any specific mailboxes that are being
compromised.

Raj,
Basically i found out that a domain user can use Outlook 2003 and
open/view other users inboxes or calendars, or contacts, etc.. Anyhow I
was looking for those mailboxes to see if what the user permissions are
for each folder. Anyhow, do you know where I can set the permissions so
that only the intended user have rights to his/her own mailboxes...let
me know. Thanks.

Hi Chris,
The M drive is hidden in 2003. Do not make it visible unless necessary.
As far as where the mailboxes are stored, they are in the mailbox store
edb files. If you have a more specific question please explain.

Hi all,
In Exchange 2000, you can view the contents of the M drive and see all
the mailboxes. Exchange 2003 eliminates the M drive completely, but can
someone tell me where all the mailboxes are stored now? thanks.
