change of email domain

Hello alll,
New to this list ,
Need to know steps in order to change email domain from a previus domain name,
abcd.com to be a child domain of abc.zyx.com.
exhange server is 2000, .
we are to change our DNS and MX records to a diffrent ip address,that will be
routing email (port 25) to the company.But ,we are using Mcafee webshield and
surfcontrol before the messages come to the exchange store....
also,what should i expect to see happening to the users?
