Should Exchange Settings be available on all DC's

I installed Exchange 2000 in a new 2000 domain. Everything looks fine on
the Exchange Server but the schema didn't change on the domain controllers
in the domain. Is it supposed to or do you have to manage it from the
Exchange Server? any help will be greatly appreciated
