OK... what's "exmerge"?

I would try to restore the tape to an offline box, mount the database,
exmerge the user's data, and then your boss can view the employee's work. We
use ntbackup as well, the method we use is to backup the entire server on
tape, and exmerge all the mailbox's and backup them up as well. If we need
to restore a single mailbox or just view a single *.pst file, exmerge can
solve that problem.

But can I restore an individual's mailbox only if we've been using ntbackup
as our backup method? I may have misunderstood (i'm new here), but i
thought that was only able to do the whole shooting match, not individuals.

And no, unfortunately, the budget here is dreadful, there are no test or
backup systems. Ugh.

My first guess will be to restore the users mailbox, and the export the
calendar... do you have a test system you could put this on?

Hi All,

I've been asked to figure out how, if it all, to do this. We had an
employee who is no longer with us, has been gone for probably about a year.
My boss wants to get a copy of his old Outlook calendar.

We've been using ntbackup. Assuming I can even find a tape that goes back
far enough to still contain his data, is there any way to restore this
without screwing up everyone else's mail?

How would I go about this? Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
