In order for users to send mails through SMTP, you have to control the
access-control or permission on SMTP Virtual Server.
Right-click the Servers -> <Your Mail Server> -> Protocols -> SMTP -> Virtual
Server,
Right-click and then select Properties...
Click Access tab, you should see Connection button, Relay... button
Normal, no changes on Connection is needed
Click Relay... button, this is where you control the permission of your users
to relay to mails. For example, you can allow whole of your intranet network to
relay ...

But We dont have the RPC over HTTP enabled that's why we are using the
smtp

If the users are onsite with Outllook 2003, why are you configuring
POP3 and SMTP server settings? You should just use the Exchange Server option
when setting up the mail profile. Just a thought :-)

Hi all
We are using the exchange server 2003
some of our users are onsite their outlook is configured with pop3 and
smtp some of them are complaining that they are not able to send mails to
external people like yahoo or rediff using the Smtp server and they are
getting the error saying that smtp server is not able to relay the Outbound
mails.
can some body help me on this is there any settings to be change in
smtp server
