Internet Address' get lost

I'm looking at reinstalling exchange 2k completely and I have quite a
few accounts on there that don't have a mailbox. They do have an email
address however (internet email). The last time I had to do this I
needed to recreate these accounts and enter in the information again. Is
there any way I can prevent this or back up these profiles so they don't
lose their attributes?
