Higher SCL numbers are more likely to be spam. So higher threshholds = more spam gets through, fewer false positives. _____ From: Andrew English [mailto:andrew@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, December 21, 2005 10:14 AM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] RE: IMF issues (big sigh) I am still not clear to the SCL settings. Which side of the scale does more email get through IMF? Thanks Andrew _____ From: Carl Houseman [mailto:c.houseman@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, December 20, 2005 7:38 PM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] RE: IMF issues (big sigh) You can't get there from here. There is no way to keep messages from getting high SCL ratings. If you pemit SCL-based filtering, all mail coming into Exchange from SMTP sources within your network will be subject to it just the same as mail of external origin. The only whitelisting provision for SCL ratings is based on subject and/or body content. AND THAT WHITELISTING FEATURE IS BROKEN AND THERE IS NO HOTFIX. (the whitelisting feature is explained in the SP2 release notes). The inability to whitelist at the SCL level based on IP is a major omission in IMF, IMHO. You might check with these guys to see if their IMF tweaker works with IMF V2. http://www.nemx.com/products/powertools/index.asp Carl _____ From: Andrew English [mailto:andrew@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, December 20, 2005 7:01 PM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] IMF issues (big sigh) My current configuration for IMF is the following: Under ESM -> Global Settings -> Message Delivery 1. I have added the IP address of my Exchange/SMTP server under the General TAB 2. Under IMF TAB Gateway is 4 with reject on, and Junk-Email is 2 3. Under Connection Filter TAB - Under Global Accept and Deny List Configuration -> Under Accept are the IP address for ExchangeList, ISAList, SBSList, etc. 4. Under SMTP server only the IMF filter is turned on everything is turned off. I can't figure out for the life of me why IMF is still putting ISAList emails in my Junk E-Mail folder after I added the IP to the Accept list and restarted SMTP server?? Andrew
