Can you post the rest of the NDR? How about a protocol log of the SMTP
transaction? What response was expected that wasn't received would be of
interest.

Turning off ESMTP on your end (in the metabase) would prevent you from
advertising it. Did you remember to turn off sending the request?

Subject: [exchangelist] Help with NDR

http://www.MSExchange.org/

I am working with a relatively new Ex2K build and have had two different
external contacts report intermittent NDR's. There is no PIX firewall in
place and ESMTP verbs have been disabled on our end.

The NDR is "4.4.1 Did not receive the expected protocol response."

Searching the usual sources has turned up nothing.

Any ideas/suggestions?
