-------------------------------------------------------Do you guys know any
good whitepapers for this? I know I'm going to need
some justification to implement this.

-------------------------------------------------------We are a VMWare
shop for Novell, Linux and Windows OS. We didn't go with
VM for our Exchange boxes for political reasons, but it does work. I
would not recommend moving all your bridgehead servers to the same VM.
Try moving a bridgehead and a none network intensive application to the
same VM.

Be aware that Windows lies about the Nic speed. It will report
trnsmission speed as either 10 MB or 1 GB no matter what speed it is
transmitting. This is a known VMWare error.

-------------------------------------------------------It's an excellent
idea. The trick is the loading and the resiliency. I wouldn't want to do
this without VMotion and enough VMware physical hosts to bounce guests
around should the loading warrant it.

I guess the moral of the tale will in the coming years be that if you
are going to do VMware then do it properly, don't play at it with a
couple of boxes just to save one piece of tin or so.
