DNS - Any experts out there?

Hi all,

I have noticed that scavenging is not enabled on our Active Directory DNS
servers.  As a result, there are a lot of old records from years ago. 
(result being from techs not properly removing systems from the domain). 
Are there any experts that can help me?

I want to scavenge these old records but I don't know what the impact
could be on our network.
