Big queues in E2K X.400

I hava a mixed mode exchange organization (5.5 and 2000).
There is one IMC in na 5.5 server, and two SMTP connectors in a exchange 2K
cluster.
The problem is there´s lots of messages coming from internet through a
connector to one of my 2K virtual servers in the cluster, and the X.400
queues to the exchange 5.5 servers are getting very big. When I restart the
MTA in the 2K virtual server, the messages flow, but in little time, the
queue is big again.
Do you know what could be the problem?
