U can also use the counters of exchange through performance logs and monitor
to set up an alerts.

Exchange 5.5 and Exchange 2K 

Is there someway to set up alerts, like an e-mail, when a mta queue (in 5.5)
or smtp/x400 queue (in 2K), gets bigger than a certain number?
