Subject: Checking compositions

My friend's son is in the twelfth grade in a 5 point group. He writes beautifully but his teacher keeps on giving him 25-26 for his compositions and once even a 20. My friend showed me the compositions and I would have given him at least 30 in each case if not more (I checked Bagrut exams for 9 years until last year). I showed the compositions to other English teachers and they agreed with me.

The problem is that this teacher is using the Bagrut scale, but in my opinion is taking off far too many points. He took off 4 points on content because the student wrote a sarcastic introduction and gave the student 8 for language because the student had 3 grammar mistakes (not basic ones). My friend's son tried talking to his teacher but the teacher said that he graded it according to the Bagrut scale. The boy will not let his mother talk to the teacher for fear of making things worse and anyway what could
she say - you're not grading correctly?

Does anyone have any idea how I can help my friend?
