Further to those forms, I don't know how Ester and Adi managed to fill them
out in just one or two hours.
I'd say the work is more like 5+ hours depending on the level of exam your
pupil is applying for. For the level I was asked to do, you need to find 3
different tests at the appropriate level. Then you need to administer one
test the regular way and correct it. Next you need to administer the second
test by recording it, administer it and check it. Then you read the third
test to the pupil and check it. After that you need to find 2 writing
tasks. The first one is done by the pupil in the usual way and you check
it. For the second , the pupil writes his answers and reads them to you and
you write them down, then grade it. After all that, you need to fill in six
pages of forms (in HEBREW), analyze the results to show what effect the
different methods of administration have and how they affect the pupil's
grade.
At the time I first saw the instructions for this task, I immediately
contacted the Irgun. That was 2-3 month ago. Not only had they never heard
of this new demand, but I never received any guidance from them after the
initial contact and they did not respond to any of my follow up
calls/emails, etc. So don't fool yourselves - THE IRGUN ISN'T GOING TO DO
ANYTHING ABOUT THIS unless we flood them with protests, and even then I'm
not sure they'll do anything. Any payment they MIGHT negotiate for the work
involved will not be adequate to the task.
Whether you are in Ofek, Oz, or not, the only way to deal with this is to
simply refuse to do it. The Ministry needs to realize that teachers need
time to prepare their lessons and to teach. If they want diagnostic work
done, there are special ed teachers, counselors and psychologists whose job
this is.
