----- Original Message ----- From: Sirce Kwai - sircekwai@xxxxxxxxx Subject: TEFL program in the States? Dear ETNI: I am planning on Aliyah soon. At the present time, I am teaching (10 years) at the elementary school level in Palm Beach County Florida. I have no Hebrew language skills so I'm looking at coming to Israel to teach English. I love English, write Calligraphically, have a personal and APA writing style, had articles and papers published....I'm an Artist by longstanding habit; professional at it; teaching it K-12 and wrote a Visual Literacy curriculum. Now that I want to come to Israel, I am looking at what is needed to teach English. I looked up the TEFL....and as I understand them, they are short courses. I have already gotten the required ESOL credits for teaching at the elementary school by taking a course in Multicultural Education at FAU, FL at the graduate level. So I'd like to have some correspondence with you in order to become one of you in time. At this time, I have some questions: 1) What is the type of TEFL that is recommended to teach in Israel? 2) Do you know or could you recommend a school that offers this either in person or online? 3) What courses are required upon employment in Israel? I am preparing for a summer Pilot Trip from June 9 to June 19 and would appreciate it if I could meet with some of the members to get a personal feel of things. My husband and I plan to settle in the North. I will be staying in the North but have a car for this Pilot Trip.
