ST. JOHN'S -- Last week my 13-year-old daughter brought home her report
card, an event always closely followed by parent/teacher meetings. I find
these meetings extremely stressful. Expectations are so high: parents'
expectations of teachers, teachers' expectations of parents. My daughter
tried to get me to relax. She said, "Mom, this is not about you." She
thought it was about her.
