the key to Krashen's article is "free voluntary reading " ,and since
school is not free or voluntary therein lies our problem.I would be
delighted if my kids wanted to read Nancy Drew or Sweet Valley high,
but unfortunately they don't want to read anything, not in English nor in
any other language.
