Israel Independence Day is celebrated on the 5th day of the
Hebrew month of Iyar. This year (5764 / 2004) the 56th birthday
of the establishment of the state of Israel is on Tuesday, April 27.
This year it is celebrated 1 day after the Hebrew day because
the eve of memorial day (the day before independence day) was
moved from Saturday night to Sunday night.
