I have found Bridge Over the River Kwai to be an excellent teaching
tool. The initial relationships are perfect examples of the Japanese
treatment of their POWs. The movie general's fears as well as his
educational background are spot on. The lack of understanding and
cultural differences are there as well. There are many other
similarities between the two genres. My students have always
appreciated the film. PS : the movie is a bit long, so I fast forward
with class approval.
