Subject: Fw: teaching hours

I wonder if someone in the know - elementary, junior high and high school
teachers, for example, - would be so kind as to put up on this list, and
then publicize them to the nation, the hours a mediocre and unmotivated
teacher ABSOLUTELY HAS TO put in during the week. Then calculate what the
same teacher puts in during the "holidays".

I'm absolutely serious about this. Please try to calculate your hours
fairly. Underestimate, rather than overestimate. We all know that we seem
to be working non-stop, during the school year, and a lot during the
holidays. Most teachers have to be in school again by mid August.

Journalists have said that other professions work overtime. True. But they
take home a decent salary. Even doctors, who start earning a pittance, know
that eventually they will get a more than decent amount for their work.
what do teachers have to look forward to.

The reason I would like to see the actual figures is, of course, because the
govenment wants teachers to put in more frontal hours. Most people know
that teachers put in many more hours than the 24 or 30 that is considered a
full time job. However, it would be nice to have the actual figures at
one's fingertips, in order to explain to parents why they should be actively
supporting their childrens' educators.
