If you are American then you know that the school system in the US is not centralized -- each locality determines this together with whichever union is prevalent According to http://www.ed-data.k12.ca.us/profile.asp average class size in California is 25.4 pupils per classroom. According to Globes of September 2008, the OECD issued a report comparing Israel to the other member countries: The new report examines 1995, 2000, and 2006. It states that Israel has some of the most crowded classrooms in junior high school, with an average of 32.8 pupils per class, compared with the OECD average of 24. The average primary school class in Israel has 27.5 pupils, compared with the OECD average of 21.5. The average (in California and in Israel) of course includes schools and classes in peripheral areas, small special ed classes and all sorts of frameworks that reduce "the average" ----------------------------------------------- ** The ETNI Rag ** http://www.etni.org/etnirag/ Much more than just a journal ** Etni homepage - http://www.etni.org or - http://www.etni.org.il ** ** for help - ask@xxxxxxxx ** ** to post to this list - etni@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** -----------------------------------------------
