As for most windows, a config dialog's size can be changed by frame-dragging. The actual minimum size is determined by buttons, it looks to be about button-height*2 high and button-width*5 wide. 300X400 is intended to be big enough to allow a user to see what's what, and change as desired. And not too big for small screens like maemo. > Regarding the GUI, I agree with some of your comments, and disagree with > some others, which is why it would be really nice to have other people > thoughts and suggestions, so we can get a global agreement on things. > > One of my other concerns relates to the translation: for my side of the > job (which is french), I don't even have an idea of how I'm going to > make a clear distinction between cancel / discard, proceed / commit / > accept / apply... without confusing everyone, which is why I desired to > have some changes in e2 GUI. I agree, it will take some thinking, for languages other than english. Perhaps some philosophy will help: commit <> make some change to an item or to the application (primarily an object-focus) proceed <> take the next step (which may be the last step) in the current activity, doesn't _directly_ do something to a file (a process-focus) cancel <> stop the current activity, which means do nothing when the activity relates to a single item (process) discard <> throw away something already done (as distinct from something not done yet), not quite the same as undo (which typically involves continuing activity i.e do > undo > do more ) (object + process) accept NOT USED (passive verb instead of active) apply <> commit/make change but do not close the dialog, wait for further instruction (object + process) Happy to discuss this further, of course. > So please, people, contribute !
