The hide-other-pane button won't initially work because, with this bug, the divider always starts at position 0. However the divider can be dragged to a desired position. I've just committed to svn a revised e2_window.c which fixes the positioning bug, and also focuses pane 2 at session start if the divider position is then < 5% of its possible range.
