The Black Mountain Monthly Bird Walk had four Lincoln's and two White-crowned Sparrows near the Warren Wilson College Pig Farm this morning. Another bird with black and white stripes on the mantle will be searched for tomorrow. Another Lincoln's was at the NE corner of Owen Ponds. Thanks to James Poling for organizing the walk. I continued on to find a very pale Orange-crowned Warbler and a Marsh Wren along the hedgerow that runs from the lotus pond (below the WWC barn) to the river. Three more Lincoln's and a Grasshopper Sparrow were here or nearby. Also a Wilson's Snipe and two House Wrens. Savannah (6) and Swamp Sparrows (6) and Palm Warblers (4) decreased. Yellow-rumped Warblers increased (14). Birds have turned over, and/or moved around and left over the past two days. Different locations for all birds since. Windy, sunny conditions were difficult.
