On the Blue Ridge Parkway, just North of the Bull Creek
Overlook, on a short road on the right where concrete H’way dividers are
stored, I took these photos of what looked like a grey
(Titmouse color) Scarlet Tanager female. A male was in the
vicinity. Has anyone seen a melanistic female Scarlet Tanager like this? Am I
correct in the identification? I will appreciate
any comments. Thanks, Jane Holt
