Hello all. I was conducting bird surveys at Green River Game Land (Polk Co,
NC) on the Big Hungry side of the game land this morning. A few highlights
include: a GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH . I have included a recording of its song in
the eBird checklist (link to list below). It is faint and you'll need to
use headphones, as there is a boisterous ovenbird singing in the
foreground. This is the second record of gray-cheeked thrush passing
through this game land during our spring surveys. Interestingly, the other
record is from 5/19/2004 at a location approx 300 meters away. Barred owl,
great-horned owl, and whip-poor-will were calling at my first survey stop.
This is a good area for RED-HEADED WOODPECKER. The eBird list follows.
