Hello local birders of the greater Asheville area,
The NC Wildlife Resource Commission is in the process of developing a
4-season bird checklist for the Green River Gamelands in Polk County, NC.
We are hoping some local birders are interested in helping us survey the
area this year. I will be leading an outing to Green River on Friday,
March 4th to collect some late winter bird data. We will be focused on the
Walcott tract which is off of Green River Cove Road. This would be a great
opportunity for me to show folks around the gamelands and point out some of
the better birding spots. We will meet at the Marathon gas station off the
Saluda Exit of I-26 at 8 a.m. (turn right off exit ramp of I-26 E. gas
station on right). Please forward this email to others who you all think
would be interested. I hope to see you all at Green River on the morning
