[BRAC] BRAC Walk at Jackson Park, 4/13

It was a fun morning today at Jackson Park for 15 enthusiastic birders. One
of our first birds was among our best - a Yellow-throated Warbler that with
a bit of coaxing came right in within 10 feet of us for extended views.
Other early warblers were Parula, Yellowthroat, Black-throated Green, a rare
Yellow, but surprisingly only a couple Yellow-rumps. We also had close
views of a most cooperative Red-shouldered Hawk that posed for us all.
Another notable bird was a late Rusty Blackbird that sang for us multiple
times. I always try to come up with a mnemonic to help me remember
birdsongs. And for me, the Rusty Blackbird song sounds like "Tatooine",
known to Star Wars fans as the desert planet where Jabba the Hutt lived and
met his demise. But maybe that's just me.
We also had a photographer join us from the Henderson County Tourism
Development Authority updating the TDA photo library documenting outdoor
experiences in Henderson County. Even this non-birding photographer got
great pics of the Yellow-throated Warbler and Red-shouldered Hawk.
