There is an American White Pelican that continues on the western part of
Lake James in McDowell County. It has been here since at least May 8th when
it was first reported on eBird.  It is easily seen across the cove from
Burnett's Landing off Lake James Rd. It was standing on a log preening
while I watched it.  This area was quite birdy. I heard Yellow,
Yellow-throated and Prothonotary Warblers from the landing.
