If the teacher wants to do a different theme than YOLO, that's fine. We're
checking on whether room parents can still use the colored butcher paper or
not. It was fine in the past, just not sure what the policy is for this
year yet.
If you've had a good response from your parent donations and think it's in
your budget, you can use some of that money to pay for decorations if you
want. Otherwise, both your time and your own money that you spend on these
doors is eligible for volunteer hours. Every $5 you spend of your own
funds counts as 30 minutes of volunteer time.
This is where the suggestions for reusable resources listed on page 13 (the
last page) of your room parent packet can come into play and be helpful.
There are all kinds of things you can get for cheap at a dollar store and
then laminate them so they're reusable. A great idea a friend of mine did
was to make 2-3 alphabets worth of cut out letters from construction paper
and them laminate them. She says she used those over and over for quite a
few years.
And if you guys come up with some ideas for reusable resources, please
share them. We can add them into the packet. We're only on version 2.0 of
the room parent packet. We'd like to keep it continually evolving and
improving.
