The Institute for the Science of Teaching & Learning at Arizona State
University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in the
Science of Learning and Educational Technologies (SoLET) Laboratory. The
postdoctoral fellow will be working on projects funded by the NSF, NIH, and
IES, to develop natural language processing indices and tools, and conduct
analyses on data collected from tutoring technologies and corpora collected
from various sources. The candidate should have experience in learning
analytics, data mining, or computer science. The ideal candidate will have
experience in all three domains as well as natural language processing.
Candidates who are not fully trained in techniques related to natural
language processing will receive training during the fellowship to learn
these techniques, but some background knowledge in the area of linguistics
or language is necessary. The candidate may also participate in designing
studies involving computer-based tutoring systems for literacy, with tasks
including experimental design, materials development, data analysis, data
mining, personnel management, and participant recruitment.


*Qualifications:* Must have earned a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology,
linguistics, computational linguistics, learning sciences, education, or in
a related field within the past four years. The candidate should also have
a solid publication record, experience leading or managing grant-funded
projects, and good interpersonal skills. Finally, the candidate should have
demonstrable interests in research related to learning and cognitive
sciences, such as natural language processing, learning analytics,
intelligent tutoring, educational technology, educational games, reading
and writing processes, learning strategies, and/or knowledge and skill
acquisition.

Salary: $50K annually
