Hey Jerry,
I am currently using my Handspring Treo as my lesson plan e-book and my
attendance/grade book as well. For my lesson plans I use Lesson Plan Version
2.50 by Tapperware, and for grades/attendance I use Teacher's P.E.T. version
2.1 by coffeepotsoftware.com. It is also handy for teaching 3rd grade and
using the Memo application, in that I create all my checklists to remember
which student has already done a job or when they received a reward. I also
keep all school incidents and parent phone calls in it as well. Seeing as how
the Treo is also a phone I have all the student info and numbers stored on it
as well. I guess you could say I carry my life on the Treo. Most importantly
I model on a daily basis positive uses for technology.
After 4 years teaching in Penn Yan, I just got a job to teach 3rd grade in
Pittsford for 03-04. I am hoping to have the resources to start up a student
group who learns and uses Palm Handhelds. I even have some ideas for names and
such. Hope this helps and maybe we can pilot some ideas together in forming
such a Student Centered Palm Group.
