"Banking on Land vs Prosperity" on Monday March 21st, 7.30pm to 9pm at
the Quaker Meeting House, 10 St. James Street S1 2EW (near the

Did you know that that a Land Value Tax (LVT) in London could have paid
for Crossrail - £16bn - just on the increased value of land along the
route?
See for instance http://www.labourland.org/downloads/vickers_review.pdf:
"business contributions to help pay for CrossRail would have been
totally unnecessary if the current and increased land values on all
sites (developed and undeveloped) which the line will create were
collected by means of LVT"
Instead, property owners are pocketing the entire increase in value for
themselves, whilst we the taxpayer foot the bill - including higher
fares (which should just be to cover running costs) to recoup the bill.
