I went out to radioshack last week and was able to buy one battery pack. We should get some more just in case because it takes a little while for the batteries to charge so we don't lose a match just because of a low battery. Battery packs are not required. Your choices are the following: Vex battery pack Individual batteries that into the Vex battery holder Here is the update on batteries. Some RadioShack stores will have the Vex Power Pack (#23-036). The Vex Power Pack comes with a 7.2V 2000mAh Ni-Cd battery, 9.6V 1000mAh Ni-Cd battery, and the charger. If the power packs are not available they can purchase the batteries individually. The catalog numbers are 23-322 (7.2V 2000mAh Ni-Cd battery and charger) and 23-342 (9.6V 1000mAh Ni-Cd battery and charger). The main thing is that they all use 7.2V 2000mAh Ni-Cd batteries on the robot and the 9.6V 1000mAh Ni-Cd batteries in the charger. The mAh and chemistry need to be the same on all robots. Please let me know if you have any questions.
