You mentioned that you are doing math worksheets so I'm assuming you know when it is appropriate to use Nemeth vs. literary code. Duxbury can import files created with MathType and Scientific Notebook, but I'm not sure those particular programs work for a blind user using a screen reader. But files created with these programs can be imported and work pretty well with some intervention from the transcriber. In addition, it is possible to enter codes "tcs" and "tce" for technical context and "tn" and "te" for technical context. If you go to the "layout' menu and then "math codes" you can find them listed. You can turn code viewing on and off with alt-f3. Any math text you want in Nemeth must be inside special brackets. Please note that you do not use the quotation marks but instead the brackets. This is done using the control-left bracket and then typing in the codes. I am a retired VI teacher and do not use Duxbury everyday, but I do have a demo on my computer just so I can still help my former colleagues (vi teacher and assistant) out at work. So, if you have further questions or could benefit from talking with me directly, I would be glad to assist. I am a totally blind JAWS user so I can speak from having used Duxbury with a screen reader. She is just beginning to use Duxbury and the Romeo pro 60. She brailled a math sheet and it came out fine except one place it brailled in literary braille rather than nemeth code and wrote the word equals instead of the sign. Is this fairly common? Is there a way to force it into nemeth code? * * * * This message is via list duxuser at freelists.org. * To unsubscribe, send a blank message with * unsubscribe * as the subject to duxuser-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx .
