How about taking the grade two document, making no changes, and back translatiing to straight text. Once it is normal text, add the grade one command, and then translate to braille.
The translation grade commands have no effect until you do a translation. To go from grade 2 to grade 1 (or the other way), you need to first make a pit stop at inkprint text.
