I don't recommend copying stuff into DBT by means of the clipboard. It is better to use the various file conversion facilities of DBT and your other programs. Some experimentation is necessary.
For some ASCII files I am happy with importing them directly into DBT as formatted text; often the results are not what I want, with too many things interpreted as tables or with very long lines truncated. I run WordPerfect or Word and import the ASCII file into one of those programs, then use DBT on the resulting WPD or DOC file. I have not gotten beyond 10.4 yet.
Hope this helps. At 03:10 AM 9/28/2007, you wrote:
Donald Roberts's message seems to have got stuck in the system somewhere, so I am forwarding it here. George. Hello, I am using Duxbury 10.4 although I doubt that the version number matters in this instance. Question 1. I often have occasion to copy text from a web page into the windows clipboard and from there into a DXP file. Why is it that the apostrophe characters which are present when I read the web page are inexplicably stripped out after I have pasted said material into the DXP file? And, what can I do to preclude this from happening? Question 2. Did Dave Derber ever come out with the tutorial which he was preparing regarding the creation of styles and templates? Question 3. In version 10.4, if I import an ascii text file into Duxbury, the carriage returns are stripped out. The only way that I have found to deal with this is to open the text file, copy it into the clipboard, and paste it into a DXP file. While this is not a big deal, is there a better way to deal with this problem? Thanks in advance for feedback. Don Roberts
