Just a few comments about mules from a donkey and mule person. Mules do have a different shape mouth than most horses. The roof is much shallower. You may want to try a thinner bit and I have had some great successes with french links and Dr. Bristows that have a flat center piece. The other thing you might try is to put a flash noseband on her to see if that helps. Then go back to a plain old halter and rope and just practice your voice commands. Mules are smart and what they need is to connect with you - be your friend not a business partner. You will not be able to force a mule to do anything and expect things to get better. It just doesn't work that way with long-ears. Make your training sessions fun. Put alot of firm love into them. You are now the boss molly and she should understand that. I hope this helps.
